So I just dinged 53 upon finishing an Un'Goro Crater Quest. I have done about 5 quests there, only 2 from Marshal's Refuge. I have finished Felwood, and Azhara. Searing gorge done at 50. So I Am just curious, I am trying to get from 53-55 in Un'Goro, then 55-58 in Winterspring. I hate the plaguelands.
I do no grinding. I just do all quests. Will I be able to get to 58 just off of Un'Goro and get those 3 levels in Winterspring?
To answer your question, I highly doubt you'll finish Un'Goro and be 58 just by quests; there are a lot, but not THAT many. And once you get 58, just head to Outland. I'm also curious if you've finished ALL the quests possible in the other zones; just wondering because I am almost 52 on my shaman and just started Un'Goro, but have not touched Felwood, Azshara, or Searing Gorge. I mean, one of my levels is pretty much due to Naga in that mithril-infested cave in Feralas, but even with that I still have all those zones open...
I'd personally recommend a leveling guide if you want, either this time or definitely next time. Even following Jame's guide, as said, I'm a level and a half (almost two levels) above his recommendations.
I agree with skipping EPL, but WPL at that level really is not hard. I resisted Silithus for a long time, but that does knock out some quick xp as well. Also, done with Felwood? Really, at 53? Everything? Because even the worst of Felwood is better than the best of EPL. ;)
The last time I did it I got from 50-58 exclusively with quests (no grinding, no instances) with all of Felwood, most of Un'Goro, most of WPL, some of Silithus (just the easy stuff), most of Winterspring, and I think 2 quests in the EPL just to top me off. I abandoned everything at 58 and went straight to the Outland.
I will never understand why everyone rushes to Outland at 58. I have four 70's (comments regarding my lack of a life may kindly be kept to yourselves thank you!), and I have yet to step foot into Outland before 60. Doing this let's me use the following leveling technique:
60-62 - Hellfire
62-64 - Zangermarsh
64-66 - Terrokar
66-68 - Nagrand
68-70 - Blade's Edge
This leaves me with Shadowmoon Valley and Netherstorm to do at 70, which if you knock out all those quests it's A LOT of money. Now admittedly all my characters were above 60 before the implementation of daily quests, so perhaps leaving those 2 zones isn't as important as it used to be. I still enjoy doing the quests though, and I really enjoy getting gold instead of experience for them.
I did some grinding in HFP at 56 on my druid, more because I prefer HFP to pretty much anything that level range in Azeroth. I'd still hop back to Azeroth from time to time, but as soon as I hit 58, Azeroth quests were ditched and it was Outland full time for me. Grinidng in Outland is fast, easy xp. Decent loot, enough of a challenge to keep you on your toes, and if you're selective, you can do a half dozen quests or so for some really sweet upgrades (Zeth'Gor Must Burn gave my druid an awesome chest piece for the level) and then grind to 60 before you do any more quests. Lots of folks are extremely reluctant to bring a 58/59 toon into Ramparts, but I manged to squeeze in a couple of runs before I hit 60. Solid xp, potential for some decent loot (even though I would instantly pass if there was even a chance someone could equip a piece right away when I was < 60), and HH (Thrallmar) rep. Can't go wrong. There are lots of places where you can grind away with an endless supply of mobs and limited risk. I'd much rather be getting double the xp and level 57 Outland green drops from time to time than Azeroth greens and (relatively) crap xp.
The people who get screwed going to Outland at 58 are the ones who start questing there as soon as they arrive. With so many "new" dailies, reserving zones for when you hit 70 to cash in on the xp -> gold conversion isn't as much of a benefit as it used to be, but I still much prefer questing through zones like BEM, Netherstorm and SMV with a flying mount anyways...so much terrain and trash can be skipped.
